SMARTSHUNT

The SmartShunt turns your smartphone into a comprehensive battery monitor. Available in versions from 300 A to 2000 A and also with IP65 protection, it allows you to check state of charge, remaining time, consumption, historical data and other essential battery parameters via Bluetooth.

The Energy SmartShunt is a compact and comprehensive battery monitor that provides an accurate overview of the actual status of a battery bank at all times, without the need to install a separate display. All information can be viewed directly from a smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth and the VictronConnect app, providing a simple solution with reduced wiring for installations where precise battery monitoring is required.

The SmartShunt measures and records essential parameters such as battery voltage, current, consumed amp-hours, state of charge, remaining time and historical data. Its configurable battery capacity ranges from 1 to 9,999 Ah, making it suitable for both small auxiliary systems and larger energy storage installations.

In addition to the main battery, it features a multifunction auxiliary input that can be used to measure the voltage of a second battery—such as a starter battery—monitor the midpoint of a battery bank, or measure temperature using an optional sensor. This makes the SmartShunt a particularly versatile solution for photovoltaic installations, off-grid systems, mobile applications and marine applications.

The VE.Direct connection allows the SmartShunt to be integrated with a Victron Energy GX device, centralising its data within the monitoring system. A VE.Direct cable is required for this connection. The integrated Bluetooth connectivity also provides direct access to the parameters via VictronConnect, without the need to install an additional physical display.

The system also stores trends for voltage, current, state of charge and auxiliary input data for 46 days, making it possible to analyse battery behaviour and detect variations in consumption, charging or the overall status of the system.

The range is available in 300 A, 500 A, 1000 A and 2000 A versions, allowing the most suitable model to be selected according to the maximum current expected in the installation. All models operate with a supply voltage of 6.5 to 70 VDC, have a power consumption of less than 1 mA, and offer a current measurement accuracy of ±0.4% and voltage measurement accuracy of ±0.3%.

The range includes two variants. The standard SmartShunt, with an IP21 protection rating, is designed for installations protected against water ingress. The SmartShunt IP65 features a water-resistant enclosure with an IP65 protection rating, making it particularly suitable for environments where moisture or exposure to more demanding environmental conditions may occur. Both ranges are available in 300 A, 500 A, 1000 A and 2000 A versions.

Compared with a traditional battery monitor with a display, the SmartShunt combines the shunt and monitoring electronics in a single unit and uses a smartphone as the display interface. This reduces the number of components and cables required in the installation while maintaining a high level of information and accuracy regarding the battery's energy status.

1) The shunt and electrical cables may reduce Bluetooth signal range. The typical range specified is 10 to 15 metres. The proximity of conductive elements, such as a vehicle's metal chassis or seawater around a boat hull, may reduce the range further. In these cases, a VE.Direct Bluetooth Dongle (ASS030536011) can be added and the SmartShunt Bluetooth disabled.

1) The shunt and electrical cables negatively affect Bluetooth signal range. The resulting range is approximately 10 to 15 metres in most cases. The proximity of conductive elements, such as a vehicle's metal chassis or seawater around a boat hull, may reduce it further. In that case, a VE.Direct Bluetooth Dongle (ASS030536011) can be added to the system and the SmartShunt Bluetooth disabled.
