General description

The water pumping system consists of a wind turbine that converts wind energy into electricity, generating power both day and night whenever suitable wind conditions are available.

The electricity produced is managed by a control interface, which supervises the operation of the wind turbine, adapts the available power and regulates the energy supplied to the water pump. In this way, the system optimizes the use of wind resources while ensuring safe and efficient operation.

Depending on the selected configuration, the system can supply three-phase AC pumps at 220 V or DC pumps specifically designed for renewable energy applications, such as the Grundfos SQFlex range.

This solution enables autonomous water pumping without the need for a grid connection and, in most cases, without the use of batteries, since the water can be stored directly in a tank for later use.

 

Wind Turbine

Generates electricity from wind energy, providing the power required to operate the water pump whenever suitable wind conditions are available. Its power rating is sized according to the required flow rate, pumping head and the specific needs of each installation. Bornay offers 1, 3 and 5 kW wind turbines specifically designed for autonomous water pumping applications.

Controller

Controls and optimizes the operation of the wind turbine by managing the generated energy and supplying it to the pumping system. It also protects the wind turbine against adverse operating conditions and ensures the safe and efficient operation of the entire installation.

Water Pump

This is the component responsible for extracting, pumping or distributing water to the point of use or storage. Depending on the hydraulic requirements of the installation, the system can use an AC pump powered through the control system or a DC pump, such as the Grundfos SQFlex range, specifically developed for renewable energy applications.

Storage Tank

Stores the pumped water to ensure its availability whenever required. In this type of installation, the tank acts as the storage system, allowing water to be stored instead of electrical energy and eliminating, in most cases, the need for batteries.

The three-phase configuration is designed for applications requiring higher flow rates, greater pumping heads or the operation of higher-power pumps. The control interface manages the energy generated by the wind turbine to supply three-phase pumps, optimizing their operation according to the available wind energy and ensuring high system performance.

This solution is ideal for irrigation systems, large agricultural and livestock farms, water supply, industrial facilities and any other application requiring high-performance pumping using exclusively wind energy.

Single-Phase Installation

The single-phase configuration is intended for small and medium-power pumping applications where a simple, efficient and reliable solution is required. Through the control interface, the energy generated by the wind turbine powers single-phase pumps or dedicated renewable energy pumping equipment, adapting pump operation to the available wind energy at any given time.

This type of installation is particularly suitable for water supply in off-grid homes, small agricultural and livestock farms, storage tanks and other applications with moderate hydraulic demand, providing autonomous operation and low maintenance.
