On 30 October, our CEO, Juan de Dios Bornay —known as Juande Bornay—, took part in “Hablando con la empresa” (“Talking with Business”), an initiative organised by the Department of Economics and Business at CEU Cardenal Herrera University in Elche. The event was held at the Alicante Chamber of Commerce and brought together students from the Business Management and Marketing degree programmes.

The initiative aims to bring the realities of business into the university classroom, giving students the opportunity to hear directly from business owners and entrepreneurs about their experience, as well as the challenges and opportunities they have encountered along the way.

During the session, Juande shared Bornay’s journey of more than 55 years in the renewable energy sector. From our beginnings in 1970 to the present day, our story has been shaped by technological developments, market changes and the need to adapt to new circumstances.

The discussion covered everyday business issues that influence a company’s development. Generational succession, employee relations, work–life balance and relationships with various organisations and institutions were among the topics addressed. There was also time to explain how internal and external factors shape business decisions and can lead a company to rethink its direction.

The session concluded with a look at some of the projects that have left a lasting mark on our history. These experiences have brought value beyond the commercial relationship between customer and supplier, creating learning opportunities and connections with a human, social and cultural dimension. They also offered a chance to show students how renewable energy can support community development and improve people’s lives.

At Bornay, we would like to thank the CEU Department of Economics and Business in Elche for the invitation. Sharing our experience with students preparing to enter professional life allows us to bring the decisions, difficulties and lessons behind a company’s journey into the classroom.
