Winter's just around the corner, which means we're entering the busiest time for windturbines.

This means having to withstand all kinds of bad weather, so it's advisable to carry out some maintenance.

To get your Bornay wind turbine ready, we recommend that you check the following key points:

1) Screws.
Check and tighten all the screws, paying special attention to the blades, preventing them from becoming slightly loose, which can cause vibrations.

2) Electric wiring
Check the electrical connections both in the wind turbine and in the regulator, the connections between the regulator and the batteries and the battery connections to prevent loose contacts, accidental connections and the appearance of hot points.

3) Blades
Check their state, paying special attentions to the leading edge, where a polyurethane stric is stuck on, which prevents erosion of the blades. You should check that the strip is in perfect condition and that there are no holes or signs of erosion on the blade.

If the strip looks damaged, it will need to be replaced. To do this, just remove the existing one, clean the surface and stick on the new strip.

If the blade is showing signs of erosion, it will need to be replaced or repaired.

4) Automatic brake
Check that the automatic brake systems is working properly:

Tilting (After 1993)
The systems needs to be activiatec manually by tilting the wind turbine the same way the winds does. You should check that it works freely and that the return is smooth and slow. If the retusn is partly or completely brusque, the hydraulic shock absorber will need to be replaced or serviced.

Variable pitch (Until 1993)
The variable ptich should be cleaned and grease at the points shown in the instruction manual before activating the counterweights manually and checking that it is working propertly and driving both (G250W) or all three (G500W) blades simultaneously, smoothly and with no knocks or sharp movements.

If you need more information about the maintenance of your wind turbine or you require a spare part, please contact our Technical Department.

The proper maintenance of your wind turbine will increase its useful life and prevent more serious faults.

Carry out maintenance with the utmost safety and use the correct safety harness, helmet and any other PPI that may be necesary.
